Infections (General)
Infectious diseases are of bacterial or viral origin. They may or may not be contagious. The agents responsible for infection are numerous: bacteria, viruses, protozoa, fungi... They can be specific (Eberth's bacillus: typhoid) or not (staphylococcus responsible for meningitis, osteomyelitis or pneumonia).
An infection develops on an organism in a state of deficiency.
Different reactions are implemented by the body to fight against the attack:
- locally (function of phagocytosis of white blood cells)
- generally (formation of antibodies and appearance of immunity).
Respiratory tract infections: colds and flu, bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis and pharyngitis, otitis, sinusitis, conjunctivitis
Urinary infections: cystitis, nephritis...
Gastrointestinal infections: colitis, candidiasis...
Other infections: shingles, tetanus, flesh-eating bacteria
