Primary Duchenne Myopathy

Primary degenerative muscular disease of progressive evolution, which is believed to be due to a deficiency in dystrophin (muscle protein).

It is familial or hereditary and often begins at a young age (often in young boys).

Characterized by the progressive weakening then atrophy of certain muscle groups distributed symmetrically, the root muscles limbs being the first affected.

Myocardial damage, vasomotor disorders, osteoporosis are common.

The progression is progressive towards complete disability.
